About RenewAire

For over 40 years, RenewAire has specialized in ventilation solutions that improve indoor air quality without sacrificing energy efficiency. Their energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) and dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS) recover energy from exhaust air to precondition incoming outdoor air before it enters the building.
This process helps maintain proper humidity levels, enhances occupant comfort, and supports modern IAQ standards while reducing heating and cooling loads and lowering energy costs by up to 70% in both commercial and residential applications.

Why Indoor Air Quality Is Important?

Indoor Air Quality plays a critical role in occupant health, comfort, and performance. In tightly sealed, energy-efficient buildings, indoor contaminants and excess humidity can accumulate without proper ventilation. While increasing ventilation improves IAQ, it often increases energy use. RenewAire energy recovery ventilators address this challenge by reusing otherwise wasted energy to condition incoming outdoor air, improving IAQ while reducing heating and cooling demands.

Reduce Heating and
Cooling Loads

RenewAire energy recovery technology reduces heating and cooling electrical loads during both winter and summer. By lowering HVAC demand, equipment can be downsized, allowing for fewer and smaller units. This improves system efficiency while keeping energy use and costs low and maintaining high indoor air quality.

Improved IAQ Supports
Productivity and Health

Enhanced indoor air quality can deliver measurable economic and health benefits, including improved worker performance and reduced sick time. Studies show productivity can increase by up to 6 percent when indoor air pollution levels meet EPA “good” standards.

Reducing Common Indoor
Air Contaminants

As buildings become more airtight, indoor contaminants accumulate from everyday sources. RenewAire ERVs help dilute and remove pollutants such as excess humidity, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, mold, bacteria, fungi, odors, dust mites, tobacco smoke, wood-fire smoke, and ozone, creating healthier indoor environments.

How Energy Recovery Ventilation Works

Energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) provide balanced ventilation that improves indoor air quality while minimizing energy loss. As buildings become more airtight, fresh air must be introduced in a controlled way to prevent contaminants and excess humidity from building up indoors. ERVs address this by continuously exchanging stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air.

Through energy recovery technology, ERVs transfer both heat and moisture from the exhaust air stream to the incoming outdoor air. During summer conditions, warm and humid outdoor air is pre-cooled and dehumidified by the cooler exhaust air. In winter, cold and dry outdoor air is preheated and humidified by the warmer exhaust air.

By preconditioning ventilation air, ERVs significantly reduce the energy required for heating, cooling, and ventilation. This allows HVAC systems to operate more efficiently and, in many cases, be downsized, resulting in lower energy consumption and improved overall building performance.

Benefits of ERVs

For Tenants:

  • enhanced indoor air quality (iaq) could save up to $200 billion in worker performance and $58 billion in lost sick time - ervs enhance iaq
  • worker productivity can be improved by 6% when air pollution levels are rated as good by the epa
  • ervs optimize energy efficiency, which can reduce ventilation energy costs by 65%

For Building Owners:

  • ervs lower capital and operating costs by downsizing hvac equipment
  • ervs preserve structural integrity by controlling humidity
  • ervs are essential to green buildings, which can grow: lease potential by 20%, roi by 19% and building asset value by 10%

An Investment Today Builds Savings Tomorrow

Energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) deliver long-term value by reducing energy consumption and operating costs. By recovering heat and moisture from exhaust air, ERVs lower ventilation-related heating and cooling loads, allowing HVAC systems to operate more efficiently and, in many cases, be downsized.
Compared to conventional ventilation systems, RenewAire ERVs can reduce ventilation energy costs by up to 65 percent and decrease heating and cooling loads by up to 70 percent, making them a cost-effective investment for building owners focused on both improved indoor air quality and long-term financial performance.
